The class is 'divided' up into areas of experience. Each area has different activities in it. Although these may occasionally move around, these are the kinds of things you will find in each area:
![]() ConstructionA wide selection of large & small construction sets is available throughout the year. These range from small construction, like Lego, to large hollow wooden 'bricks'.![]() `Small World` PlayThis includes such things as farm animals, playmobiland dolls house equipment. These may be found in a variety of areas. ![]() The Mark Making AreaThis provides a wide range of media, which include pens,pastels, fat pencils, thin pencils, rainbow crayons and various types of paper in all different shapes and sizes. ![]() The Role Play AreaThis changes in order to reinforce our current 'theme' and offer children opportunities to work out their understanding of the world. Apart from a home corner here may be a hospital, a café, a travel agents or shop. Dressing up clothes are always available, along with a variety of accessories: hats, wigs, handbags, shoes etc.![]() Table Top ActivitiesThese include jigsaws, sorting activities and games,such as lotto, which promote turn taking and help promote social skills. ![]() Scientific ActivitiesThese are available throughout the areas but specific investigations, including experiments, are also set up and children are introduced to magnets, magnifying glasses and electricity.![]() Information and Communication TechnologiesWe have an excellent range of ICT equipment. Children will be able to have experience of the internet, e-mail, fax machine, digital camera etc.![]() Creative ActivitiesThese include painting, gluing and printing. A wide selection of media is available and we cover a range of activities from bubble prints to tie & dye, natural collage to model making.![]() MusicChildren will get involved in singing, dancing and using instruments as well as listening to a range of sounds and music styles.![]() Book CornerThis is a quiet area where a love and respect for books is encouraged. We provide a selection of good quality fiction and non-fiction in a comfortable setting. Short tapes with favourite stories are also available to promote listening skills in an enjoyable way.![]() Malleable ExperienceOne table is set aside for working with malleable materials such as clay, playdough, cornflour and pastry. Other activities in the creative area include dry sand and wet sand. A large water tray is also provided and accessories for all of these change depending on the skill or concept which we are promoting at the time. |
